That’s reassuring. I've heard reference to a censure, but admittedly, am ill-informed about it. I’ll read your article. Thank you, Alex, for doing the research and publicizing it.
If the very public 2nd impeachment trial results in acquittal, how much publicity will a censure procedure receive?
I still have a concern even if either of those avenues result in Trump being barred from office.
The Mueller report did not exonerate Trump and Mueller indicated in a senate hearing that if it weren’t for a DOJ policy against indicting a sitting president, Trump could be charged with a crime. Yet most Republicans believe it cleared Trump of all wrongdoing.
When Trump wasn’t convicted in the 1st impeachment trial for the Ukraine quid pro quo, what gained traction and became “truth” among most Republicans was that Trump was completely innocent of all charges, that the trial was a witch hunt perpetrated on a “good man.”
If Trump can't run for office again that'd be fantastic, but there are others who could become Trump 2.0 in the eyes of his blind followers. We still have the MAGA mob's perception of reality to deal with and I don’t know how to resolve that. It’s a Sisyphean task.
